SNUBH hosts Global Nursing Leadership Academy for Chinese nursing managers, expanding international healthcare collaboration

Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) said it hosted a Global Nursing Leadership Academy for nursing managers from the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China from May 20-28 at SNUBH in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, Korea.

Since initiating education for Russian nurse managers in 2018, SNUBH has continuously hosted the Global Nursing Leadership Academy, taking the lead in capacity building of nurses and international nursing exchange.

The Global Nursing Leadership Academy offered courses to improve nursing skills across various specialties, including geriatric nursing, surgical nursing, and critical care nursing. It also conducted specialized curricula in nursing career paths and specific clinical areas to ensure comprehensive training. Courses included nursing improvement and quality management, nursing career advancement, nursing information systems (operation and utilization course), as well as logistics.

SNUBH's international fellowship program has garnered significant attention for its utilization of adavanced infrastructure systems at the SMART Simulation Center. By conducting simulation-based education and training, SNUBH replicated real clinical environments, enhancing learning experiences for participants.

After initiating the Live Surgery Master Class for Gastric Cancer in Wenzhou in 2016, SNUBH signed a memorandum of understandings (MOU) with WMU and its affiliated hospitals, fostering long standing international nursing exchange programs. Through the upcoming nursing leadership program, SNUBH aims to further expand international nursing exchanges between Korea and China. In the second half of the year, SNUBH plans to solidify cooperation on multiple fronts by expanding to additional sessions of the Global Nursing Leadership Academy and extending training programs for physicians.

“SNUBH provides high quality education for healthcare professionals based on excellent clinical training programs and facilities,” said Song Jung-han, CEO and President of SNUBH. “Korea and China are both grappling with the similar societal challenge of aging and low birthrates, and we anticipate ongoing collaboration in the healthcare sector in the years ahead.”

“I look forward to the opportunity to improve my nursing skills by collaborating with the excellent nursing leaders at SNUBH,” said Sun Caixia, Chief Nurse and Director of the Nursing Department at WMU. “I hope the Global Nursing Leadership Academy will not only promote understanding and expand exchange between Korea and China but also contribute to medical development within China.'"
